Chateau La Grave, Figeac
Château La Grave Figeac had been owned by the same family for five generations before being purchased in 1993 by Jean-Pierre and Sabine Clauzel. Jean Pierre and Sabine come from a long line of wine growers (family estates: Château L'Evangile and Château Nenin in Pomerol).
La Grave Figeac's 6.4 hectares of vineyards are planted with Merlot (65%), which makes for rounded, supple wines, and Cabernet Franc (35%), which provides structure and elegance. 35 to 40 years old, the vines are at their best.
The Clauzels are convinced that a wine's quality potential is acquired on the vine, not in the vat and all that happens indoors is to let the grape express its potential. That is why they devote all their efforts to obtaining grapes of the highest possible quality.
