Domaine Dubost
From some of the greatest restaurants in the world to the shelves of its finest
wine merchants, the Gamays from Jean-Paul Dubost
(pronounced `Dubo' locally) are extremely highly regarded. Fourth generation
vigneron Jean-Paul took over running the estate in 1993 after the sudden
accidental death of his father; he has continued his work with great aplomb.
The speciality here is their Brouilly, which comes from 75 year old vines, but their Beaujolais-Villages is also exceptional; at least as good as most people's village crus. These are surprisingly rich wines with not inconsiderable tannins that reflect both Dubost's devotion to Gamay and also to quality.

Jean-Paul Dubost has put together a wine as notable for the richness and ripeness of its fruit as for the balance of its tannins. This is a very stylish cru Beaujolais which will blossom in the glass. (Jasper Morris MW, BBR Buyer) Drink 2009-2001 . | ||||
