Azienda Agricola San Biagio
Located in La Morra in the heart of Barolo, this is a family-owned and run estate that can trace its roots back to 1923. Today it is run by the trio of Roggero family siblings - Tiziana (commerce), Luca (oenology) and Davide (viticulture). The estate has 13 hectares of vineyards, with the oldest and finest site being the Sorì del Rovere (Vineyard of the oak tree).
Estate bottling only commenced in 1990 and recently a brand new state-of-the-art winery has been built. Gradually the style of the wines has changed from traditional to modern. The grapes are now fermented in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks and the wines are now matured in a combination of new barriques and large 500-litre oak barrels. The wines are bottled unfiltered. These wines are made in the modern Barolo school of winemaking, with the emphasis on elegance and typicality of fruit character.
