Domaine Vacheron
Three different generations of Vacherons have produced wines in Sancerre over the years - today there are 2 brothers, Denis and Jean-Louis, assisted by 2 of their sons, who run the domaine. It has 43 hectares of vines, mostly planted with Sauvignon Blanc. The white wines are very good but the domaine is best known for its red Sancerre. Whilst many producers in Sancerre regard making red Sancerre as a part-time activity, the Vacherons are deadly serious about it. The Pinot Noir originates from several lieu-dit sites, including La Belle Dame. Le Paradis and Les Romains.
These are beautifully perfumed red wines that are light to medium bodied and can be cellared for up to 3 years.
