Compared to its more famous neighbours Sancerre & Pouilly-Fumé, the wines of Menetou-Salon are a mere 47 years old and often overlooked.

True, the majority of the wines come from gently undulating hills to the west, while those of the smaller Morogues subzone further east couldn’t be more different, where vines struggle on thin stony soils and steep slopes to give finer fruit.

Domaine Henry Pellé dates back to the ‘70s, with third generation Ann now in charge, aided by the talented winemaker Julien Zernott who places great of emphasis on tending the vines closely, aerating the crop and reducing the yield. The result reflects the mineral qualities of this superior Kimmeridgean clay terroir perfectly.

The Sauvignon Blanc seduces with peachy limestone floral notes on the nose, while the palate combines a generous volume of fruit held tight by a refreshing detailed structure.
