Château Macay
The Côtes de Bourg appellation extends to just short of 4000 hectares of vineyards, which surround the town of Bourg on the right bank of the Dordogne. "Il ne gèle ni ne grêle" (it neither freezes nor hails) is a well-known saying in Bourg and the favourable weather conditions coupled, with the calcium-rich soils and well-exposed vineyards, make it ideal for viticulture.
Château Macay was named after a Scottish officer and is now run by Eric and Bernard Latouche. They have built a completely new cellar and over the last ten years have dramatically increased the quality of the wine. They have 30 hectares of vines and the wine is a blend of 65% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Malbec.
