Château Corbin
St. Emilion - owned by SC des Domaines Giraud, this 12.7 ha property produces on average 6,500 cases per year. Located in the north of the St.Emilion appellation, the property shares a similar climate to that enjoyed by both St.Emilion & Pomerol: more continental than the maritime Médoc with generally more spring rainfall, though less in summer & winter. Its vineyards (Merlot 70%; Cabernet Franc 24%; Malbec 6%) lie on a large-grain sand topsoil (`Ancient sand') & impermeable sandstone/limestone subsoil. Vinification benefits from up to 15 months' maturation in oak barrels, 33% new. It is classified as a `Grand Cru Classé'.
