Château Farizeau
The Premières Côtes de Bordeaux is an appellation located on the right bank of Bordeaux that runs along the Garonne River. It is sandwiched between the large Entre-deux-Mers region (where the good-value whites and most Bordeaux Superieur red wines are from) and the Sauternes and Graves regions. The soil contains more gravel than within the Entre-deux-Mers yet slightly less than the Graves. Stylistically, wines from the Premières Côtes are slightly more structured than a good Bordeaux Superieur, yet perhaps slightly more approachable than a Graves.
Château Farizeau is consistently one of the best producers in the appelation. It is located in the commune of Lorient Sadirac and its red is a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot and 16% Cabernet Franc. The wines are cultivated and vinified by the Moreau family who have owned the vineyards since 1680.
