Château Jonqueyres
Château Jonqueyres is located in the Entre-Deux-Mers region and produces around 25,000 cases a year under the Bordeaux Supérieur AC. It was for many years owned and run by Jean-Michel Arcaute, who also owned Château Clinet and Château La Croix du Casse. Jean-Michel was tragically killed in a boating accident in 2001.
The property is situated in the commune of Saint Germain du Puch and there are 45 hectares of vineyards planted with Merlot (80%), Cabernet Sauvignon (15%) and Cabernet Franc (5%).
The grapes are hand-harvested and are then fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. A proportion of the wine is then aged in oak barrels (20% new), while the rest remains in steel tanks. The property consistently produces nicely rounded, smooth and elegant clarets that represent superb value for money.
