Château Le Gardera
Bordeaux Supérieur is an appellation that covers the same geographical area as Bordeaux AC but requires lower yields in the vineyards and an extra half per cent of alcohol in the wines. Château Le Gardera, which is located in Langoiran, is one of the best sources for high quality Bordeaux Supérieur in the region.
It produces wine more akin to Premières Côtes de Bordeaux quality than Bordeaux Supérieur. There are 35 hectares of vineyards and the usual blend is 60% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. It is aged in oak for 12 months. These are juicy, easy-drinking wines which possess a surprising degree of finesse and are amongst the best value clarets on the market today.
