Château Segonzac
Château Segonzac is a Côtes de Blaye property which possesses an exceptionally handsome and striking 19th century château. It is located just outside the small village of Saint-Genes-De-Blaye on the right bank of the Gironde estuary. The vineyard was established and planted in 1887 by a Parisian politician, Jean Dupuy. Since 1990 it has been owned by Swiss businessman Jacob Marmet.
There are 31 hectares of vineyards planted with Merlot (60%), Cabernet Sauvignon (20%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Malbec (10%). The grapes are fermented in a combination of steel and cement tanks and the wine is then matured in small oak barrels for 12 months.
Typically the wines from Segonzac possess a well-defined bouquet, as well as red and black fruits and svelte tannins on the palate. One of the finest producers of the appellation.
