Kuentz-Bas
Kuentz-Bas evolved with the marriage at the beginning of the last century of André Bas and Alfred Kuentz' daughter and the subsequent merger of their vineyards. Today it is run by jazz fanatic Christian Bas and his cousin Jacques Webber.
This medium sized négociant buys in grapes from around 40 growers but also has its own 22 hectares of prime vineyards. It produces high-quality wines at all levels, though what it really excels in are its Vendages Tardives wines. These are made from grapes rarely harvested prior to mid November and are intensely perfumed, super-rich, and lusciously sweet.
