Domaine Ricard


Vincent represents the 5th generation of the Ricard family to farm the calcareous southern slopes of the Cher tributary, with 17 hectares of AC Touraine, which is planted with 75% Sauvignon Blanc, 8% Gamay, 6% Cabernet Franc, 3% Chardonnay and 8% Cot.

Vincent, who has been making the wine for 4 years, harvests at particularly low yields (48 hl/ha in 2001 vs. the average of 68hl/ha for the appellation). He leaves the wine on its lees for 6 months which, combined with an average vine age of 30 years, helps to produce a richer, weightier, more serious Sauvignon Blanc where the emphasis is on the finish rather than on the nose.
