Lonehill


Robertson is famous for its racehorses and its white wines. Much of the latter is down to the efforts of Coal Tycoon Graham Beck who purchased a 1850 hectare Estate in the area back in 1983. 200 hectares are now planted with vines and winemaker Pieter Fereira crafts some of the finest wines in South Africa today. The Lonehill Chardonnay is barrel-fermented and then matured in French oak barrels (40% new) for 12 months. Like many South African Chardonnays it does not undergoe Malolactic Fermentation with Fereira wishing to retain fresh youthful aromas and a backbone of crisp acidity.
