Campbells
Campbells can
trace its history back to 1870 when Scotsman, John Campbell produced his first
wine from his Bobbie Burns vineyard. John had originally come out to
Victoria in search of gold - the winemaking was very much a sideline, but the
business prospered and by 1885 he had 15 hectares planted to vines. Today the
winery has over 64 hectares of vines and remains family-owned and run, with
Malcolm Campbell as viticulturist and his brother Colin as
winemaker.
The winery is located in Rutherglen in northeast Victoria and produces a wide range of table and fortified wines. It is most renowned for its fortified Muscats and Tokay, which include the Isabella Tokay, Liquid Gold Tokay, Merchant Prince Muscat and Rutherglen Muscat. The dry reds are concentrated and full-bodied and includes the Bobbie Burns Shiraz and The Barkly, which is produced from the Durif variety
