Alain Chatoux
The southern Beaujolais is one of the most attractive vineyards in France,
described as terre dorée because of the distinctive soil colouring and golden
stonework. Located just out-side Villefranche, Domaine Chatoux is
located at an altitude of over 500 metres, its vines presiding over a
delightful bucolic tapestry.
Physically imposing and informed by traditional values, Alain Chatoux is very proud of these old vines, which average 60 years of age. The splendid soils, with traces of granite and quartz, afford a lengthy growing period and yield wines of a power and intensity that is rare outside the cru villages further to the north.
