Closed and austere when young, it is only with adequate ageing that Taylors sublime qualities come to the fore. This rich, structured Port shows that they are well worth waiting for.

Brownish ruby, looking quite old. Vegetal, fading on the nose. Rather old-fashioned in an attractive way, Drying out on the finish but with very good fruit, lovely balance – quite haunting for current drinking. Tannins definitely in retreat. Good for now. Lots of current pleasure but its lack of freshness and vigour perhaps counts against it.
