2002 Vieux Château Certan, Pomerol
|
|
Just as in 2001, the quality-obsessed Alexandre Thienpont has not included any
Cabernet Sauvignon at all in his wine in 2002. Instead it contains 40% Cabernet
Franc and 60% Merlot. The quality of Thienpont's wines seems to get better and
better each year, and 2002 continues this trend with another exceptional
example. This is all purity and class, with lovely cherry aromas and deep
strawberry and plum fruit with vanilla hints on the palate. What this cerebral
wine lacks in brawn it more than makes up for in elegance. Outstanding.
