2003 Ch. Mouton-Rothschild, Pauillac
(code: 52277B)
The way that this dark, unctuous wine clung to the sides of the glass
immediately hinted that it might be a fantastic Mouton and so it proved. With
an abundance of spicy Cabernet fruit on the nose, this has gorgeous extract and
concentration on the palate. Ripe tannins enrobe a decadent kernel of exotic
ripe, blackcurrant fruit. This is more impressive than the already legendary
2000 at the same stage. Not surprisingly, patience will be required to enjoy
this at its best.
