Blandy's 1940 Sercial was bottled in 1986 after 46 years in cask. There's a
lovely dark-golden colour and hints of orange zest and a salty tang to the nose
of this fabulous old, old wine. This is elegant and stylish, with fantastic
length. Gold medal winner in the 1994 Interantional Wine Competition. Nose of
lemon-tinged butterscotch, softened to become more fruity in the glass. Medium
dry, lean, rapier-like acidity crossing the palate but with a lovely warming
aftertaste. Glorious.
