"The heatwave year of 2003 produced exceptional challenges for winemakers in
Bordeaux and St Estèphe was one of the most consistently successful
sub-regions. The fruit in Chateau Picard is very ripe but avoids the cooked,
baked character present in less successful wines. The wine is succulent and
round, and is an ideal partner to lamb or hard cheeses. This is a real find at
this price from a slightly unfashionable appellation."

Estèphe has never quite enjoyed the same acclaim of the more celebrated Médoc
communes, but this only serves to render its wines more attractive in terms of
value when you stumble across a very good example such as this. Coming from the
hottest vintage ever, this has lush fruit and boasts significant concentration
and great length the perfect partner to cassoulet or game, or a powerful,
mature cheddar. (BBR Fine Wine)
