1985 Berrys' Own Selection Dailuaine Speyside
(code: 62649B)
Dailuaine means 'green vale' in Gaelic and is situated between Ben Rinnes and
the River Spey near Aberlour. The Whisky is quite rare as a single malt as most
of the production is used for blending. Fruit rind sharpness with some
marmalade concentration is tempered by barley sugar softness and leafy
smokiness drifting in through the cat flap. The peaty strain is evident
immediately as the flavours start to joust. This is an interesting creamy smoky
dram with real character.
