2001 Ch. la Conseillante, Pomerol
(code: 64898B)
2001 is a very good Bordeaux vintage that rivals in quality other great
vintages such as 1985 or 1986. Perhaps most important of all, the 2001s provide
utterly sublime current drinking - although this example will also keep for
another decade should you be able to resist it now. Ch. la Conseillante is
amongst the crème de la crème of Pomerol producers and one which produces a
feminine, almost Burgundian style of wine. It offers aromas of sweet
raspberries, terroir and toasty oak ahead of a soft, silky textured palate and
an abundance of seductive fruit. This is fabulous drinking for the price
and would certainly add a little je ne sais quoi to anyone's Christmas
table.
