2005 Ch. Campillot, Médoc
(code: 65090B)
Bravo to BBR for its classy collection of 2005 second wines from some
well-known and not so well-known châteaux, such as this plump, complex,
chocolate and herb-charged claret.
(Jane MacQuitty-The Times - 24-May-08)
"Showing just a hint of traditional Médoc earthiness, this harmonious wine is rich and chocolatey on the nose and herb-charged, plump and fruity on the palate. It’s a Claret with plenty of class and deserves decanting for at least an hour before being enjoyed with a roast of lamb and all the trimmings"
(Simon Staples - Berrys' Fine Wine Director)
Clear and bright with an intense ruby to purple core and noticeable legs. The nose is clean, intense and developing with brambly black hedgerow fruits and some cedar spice. This wine has a combination of depth of flavour and fragrant, fruity characters that make it very attractive on the nose. Dry on the palate, with medium acidity and slightly grippy tannins. The medium body belies the serious fruit here. Blackcurrant and mocha notes come to the fore with black cherry too. Complex, developing and well balanced this is drinking well now but equally could be cellared for another 3 years.
