2002 Solaia, Annata Diversa, Piero Antinori
(code: 65151B)
Such were the tricky conditions in '02 that the normal 20% Sangiovese element
was omitted to leave a predominantly Cabernet wine. Much for the better, some
might say, for the nose seems racier, better defined with bright cassis notes;
the palate follows being generously ripe yet marked by some fine Cabernet
tannins & fresh acidity. A pleasant surprise, for drinking now & over
the next few years. Good with roast lamb.
