"2005 is set to rank alongside 1998 and 2000 as one of the most powerful and long-lasting of the recent Chateauneuf vintages. The power is evidenced by a firm tannic backbone; the quality of the year by the sheer concentration and complexity of the fruit. Garigue, sousbois, blackberry and Provence herbs are all evidenced on the palate. A magisterial wine, perfect with game. La Nerthe have made an outstanding 2005; a wine of character and substance, real but not over-bearing gravitas here. Both a vin de plaisir and a vin de médiatation!"
