Just to the south of the border with Corbières, Le Clos is vinifed
traditionally and does not see oak; instead it is a perfect expression of ripe
old vine Grenache with 20% of Syrah added to lend a pleasing mineral grip to
the rich palate, where black cherries and damsons predominate. A classic
example of a Roussillon wine and will accompany spicy sausages or a haunch of
venison with no little relish! It is a mystery to me why Roussillon is so far
behind Languedoc in terms of perception in the UK. Hopefully this excellent
example will help to redress the balance!
