Shaped by a hot summer, Marinella has succeeded in producing a rich wine which
captures the vintage’s dried fruit and spice character on the nose while
the palate’s enveloping with its suave, succulent, damson fruit, supple
tannins and fresh, cleansing acidity. A great match for venison. Producers are
increasingly turning to more mechanised, quicker methods of shrivelling the
fruit prior to pressing and fermentation. Not so Marinella, who continues to
pursue the traditional approach to appassimento, air-drying the harvest
in lofts. The result being a greater evaporation of must weight (60 -65%) and a
finer Amarone.”
