2006 Giaconda Nantua 'Les Deux' Chardonnay/Roussanne, Victoria

The 2006 Nantua ‘Les Deux’, a blend of 93% Chardonnay and 7% Roussanne from the Nantua and Warner vineyards, is barrel fermented with about 30% new oak. The Nantua is made exactly the same as Giaconda Chardonnay, just less oak maturation. The nose is loaded with oatmeal, hazelnuts, baked apple and matchstick nuances.  Bigger than in 2005, with rich Chardonnay fruit and the perfumed influence of Roussanne. Mouth-filling finish, velvet texture with vanilla, minerals and a touch of lemon acidity all adding to the complexity and length. It has several years of ageing potential and can be enjoyed through 2018.
