For the ebullient Miguel Angel Gregorio, who revived this fine old estate in
Briones (La Rioja Alta), his Finca Allende Rioja is one most complete
expression of Tempranillo. This is evidenced by a generous ruby colour and a
nose of spice, damson, forest floor and violets. The palate is marked out by
both the generosity of ripe red and black fruit and the quality of the tannins,
which are very finely grained. As always a fine match for chorizo or lamb
shanks.
