2004 Smith & Hooper Cabernet/Merlot, Wrattonbully, S. Australia
With intense alluring aromas of vanilla, violet and blackcurrant, this marvellous wine certainly doesn’t disappoint on the palate with rich complex flavours and a smooth, velvety texture.

The wine is sourced entirely from two premium, adjacent vineyard blocks in Wrattonbully, previously owned by the Smith and Hooper families, now part of the Yalumba portfolio. Wrattonbully is blessed with some of the most celebrated winegrowing soil Australia - Terra Rossa, aka 'red earth”, a rich, free-draining soil. The 2004 Cab .Sauvignon- Merlot offers intense aromas of violets and black currants, with vanillin overtones. The palate is rich with a velvety texture. With the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon and the softness of Merlot this wine can be enjoyed now, or and call develop superbly for another 5-6 years.
