2003 Pago de los Capellanes El Nogal Ribera del Duero

Pago de Los Capellanes make wines of wonderful balance and purity. More fruity than Vega Sicilia, more concentrated than Pesquera, Pago de Los Capellanes is the modern face of Ribera Del Duero. The Nogal is aged for 12 months in 100% Allier oak, all new and of medium toast. The Cabernet Sauvignon has added a little structure, firming up the tannins which cloak the cornucopia of ripe fruit. 2003 is shaping up beautifully, despite its torrid August temperatures. This wine exemplifies all the virtues of fine winemaking in this vintage,namely harmonious tannins, ripe black fruit and real poise on the finish.
