Bowmore Darkest 15 Years Old is an brilliant example of a whisky expertly finished in Spanish Oak casks; starting its life maturing in American Bourbon casks, and then finishing in Oloroso Sherry casks. Paul Pacult from The Spirit Journal calls it "a clinic on how to finish a malt in sherry casks".
Nose: Dark chocolate and raisin aromas compliment the classic Bowmore smokiness. Palate: Wonderful cedar wood and rich treacle toffee flavours. Finish: Robust and warming with a hint of sherry tannin.
