2003 Recioto della Valpolicella Classico Bussola

The pinnacle of Bussola's range, combining a decadent 330 grams/litre of dry extract (compared with 23 grams/litre for a wine like Brunello ), 265 grams/litre of residual sugar and a mere 12% alcohol to give us a super suave, trinitario chocolate textured elixir, beautifully embroidered with herby date notes and bearing more of a resemblance to port than to wine. Fabulous now, especially with almondy cakes such as the local sbrisolona. (David Berry Green, BBR Buyer)
