The gifted Bordelais winemaker Damien Brisset has helped to put Domaine
Ferraton back on track as one of the leading producers of Hermitage and Crozes
Hermitage, their rightful position really, when one considers the location of
many of their vineyards. From limestone vineyards to the south of the
Appellation, Le Grand Courtil is their top Crozes Hermitage. The 2006 boasts
notes of tapenade, dried fruit and spice and a fine, generous texture in the
mouth which is approachable in relative youth but destined to age well and to
be more than a match for rich Southern fare.

The 2006 Crozes-Hermitage Le Grand Courtil exhibits abundant creme de cassis
notes intermixed with incense, charcoal, licorice, and bouquet garni. Rich,
full-bodied, and dense, it is a superb example of red Crozes-Hermitage. Drink
it over the next 10-15 years.
