2006 Hautes Cotes de Nuits, La Corvée de Villy, Thibault Liger Belair

In 2001 Thibault Liger Belair took over an old family property in Nuits-St-Georges, taking back the vines which had been contracted out to various sharecroppers, and leasing a cuverie just down the road. The vines are now certified organic and farmed biodynamically, with horses used to plough the vineyards where possible.

As well as substantial holdings in Nuits St Georges and Vosne Romanée, including grands crus Richebourg and Clos de Vougeot, Thibault has also purchased vineyards in the hills above the main Côte de Nuits so as to be able to offer attractive wines which are approachable earlier. His Corvée de Villy is situated in the village of Chaux, on the plateau above Nuits St Georges on exceptionally stony soil.
