1982 Berrys' Own Selection Caol Ila
(code: 68428B)
Caol Ila distillery is to be found near Port Askaig facing across the Sound of
Islay to neighbouring Jura. The Whisky is very well respected for both its
distinctive smoky, salty Islay and elegant fruity balance.
The 1982 expression gives subtle yellow fruit skin aromas with outcrops of linseed and polished leather, Balkan sobranie tobacco and brine. The palate is unctuous and fruity with hints of apple crumble and it manifests a peaty, oaky structure. A fine old Caol Ila, this finishes with a savoury briny appeal.
