This might seem a pretty stiff price for a Côtes de Bergerac, but it
really is cracking stuff. A blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet
franc from a top vintage, it is more New World in style than French, with a
rich, silky texture and intense, spicy flavours. Massive investment and
scrupulous winemaking mark this as an estate to watch. Enjoy it with Sunday
roasts.

Most estates in Bergerac deliver red wines that are pale imitations of claret.
But here is a producer that views itself as equal to the best of Bordeaux; this
is every bit as good as a fair few top-notch right-bank estates, and at this
price is a bargain. Expect a massive 14 per cent alcohol red with lots of inky,
liquorice, pepper and black cherry-laden fruit. At its best with grilled red
meat.

This dark, broody Bordeaux blend exudes beautifully pure fruit, liquorice and
mint chocolate. The silky tannins coat a robust structure that holds this
versatile wine together and leads gracefully to a black cherry dominated, spicy
finish. Enjoy this wine now with all types of meat or keep for several years to
allow a softer, rounder character to evolve.
