This mercurial Hunnawihr Clos, in the shadow of the Vosges forest benefits from cool, slow-ripening muschelkalk calcareous soils to give a lesson in limestone purity; still very young and taut, this dry wine (2 grams residual sugar) needs 5 years to open up."
