In another great year for the Mouton-Rothschild stable, d'Armailhac has produced a sumptuous, seductive wine. Owned by the Rothschilds since 1933 and located next door to Mouton, the wine has a rich, elegant nose and a generous velvety blackcurrant palate. Supported by sleek, supple tannins it glides to a long, intense raspberry, strawberry and cassis finish. Benefiting from a substantial dash of old vine Cabernet Franc (22%) this is a very shrewd and rather hedonistic buy from one of Pauillac's up and coming properties.

Purple-red, smoky blackcurrant fruit, quite lush and velvety compared to some, good Pauillac purity lifted by Cabernet Franc, expressive and elegant.

"A pretty successful year for Armailhac. Big and bloody on the nose - real opulence and some flavour and character! Hooray! Almost pipe tobacco…. Ripe, present tannins. Dry but not drying. Hint of ashtrays which doesn't sound very nice but let me assure you that it is such a relief to find a wine with some positive flavour… Much gentler than wine Croizet Bages..."
