2005 2/3 Trio Infernal Combier-Fischer-Gerin, Priorat

"Messrs Combier and Gerin, already well-established in the Northern Rhone, have joined forces with Dutchman Peter Fisher, to explore the schistous terraces of Priorat and the joys of Garnacha and very old vines Carignan. This they have done with considerable aplomb producing a family of wines with real class. The 2/3 is 100% old vine Carignan and it has had extended oak ageing: in its youth, it has all the class and concentration of top notch Priorat; forest floor and kirsch are allied to a robust and winsome structure, with balancing acidity and powerful fruit tannins harmoniously interwoven and lending real gravitas."
