"Located between Beziers and the fashionable enclave of St Chinian, Dom. Belot is building quite a reputation, especially for its single varietal wines. Merlot from the Languedoc is quite difficult to get right; ripeness is essential, over-ripeness fatal. Belot got it exactly right in 2005; the plumy damson richness is evidenced, with very finely managed tannins lending a discrete support and ensuring that the inherent generosity of the wine has not been allowed to become jammy or stewed. A perfect match for casseroles, roasts and similar! Terrific value and drinking perfectly now. This will knock you Sideways!"
