2003 L'Intemporelle, Grand Cru Champagne Mailly
|
|
"Hervé Danton has taken advantage of the north facing vines in the
potentially rather warm vintage to fashion a wine of great elegance and
breeding. Made from 75 % Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay, the wine has beautiful
aromatics of white flowers and patisserie, then a palate which is both fresh
and opulent combining notes of biscuit, ripe fruit, ginger and honey. A very
fine aperitif, but with sufficient gravitas to match a variety of dishes,
including turbot and sea-bass. L'Intemporelle was introduced to BBR last year
and proved an immediate hit with staff and customers alike. The reason? One is
getting, packaging and all, a fantastic Deluxe Cuvée for the price of a
good vintage wine."

L’Intemporelle offers an overtly yeasty nose, almost buttery, reflecting
the heat of the 2003 vintage. The palate is rich in creamy strawberries and
raspberries, tropical banana and pineapple fruit flavours, with elegant acidity
giving a silky texture.
