2006 Ch. de Lascaux, Pic St Loup
(code: 69746B)
Syrah and Grenache from the dramatic eponymous limestone peaks just to the
north of Montpellier. With a distinctive nose of garrigue, incense and
macerated plum, this is a warm Mediterranean wine, its putative rawness long
since tamed by the expertise of Jean Benoit Cavalier. Dark fruit on the palate,
then a mineral acidity and a warming but not hot finish. A good match for
casseroles and jugged hare.
