2004 Barbaresco,'Vigna Erte', Bricco di Neive, Cigliuti
|
|
A more than worthy successor to Cigliuti family's excellent 2001 vintage, the
single-vineyard Vigna Erte is made in a very traditional fashion and aged for
25 months in large slavonian botte, so allowing the sweet rich strawberry fruit
and tea aromas, as well as lush, pacy mulberry flavours framed by cool
limestone minerality to seduce the senses.

Cigliuti is an estate that doesn’t seem to get much attention these days.
To be sure, these are not flashy, obvious wines, yet for the most part they
deliver plenty of enjoyment and pleasure. The estate’s 2004 Barbaresco
Erte is a fine effort. This mid-weight offering shows excellent concentration
and depth in its dark red fruit, menthol, minerals, flowers and sweet
herbs.
