2000 Valpolicella Classico Superiore, Quintarelli

Compared to the famous 1999, Quintarelli's 2000 vintage is an altogether more succulent, if no less fine example of this brilliant ripasso style yet dry wine. Beautifully suave; delicate mulberries and herb notes seduce on the nose while the palate swells with unbridled joy, treating us to a fabulous roll of crushed sweet Scottish raspberries, interwoven with a hint of wild herbs and gentle structure. Comparable to some of Burgundy/France's best, a wine that will suit any manner of dishes, notably turkey. Drinking now till 2016 at least.
