2007 Berrys' Côtes du Rhône Rouge Domaine Chapoton
Best value Berrys' wine at £8/bottle and my "house red"- lovely spicey, peppery fruit and ideal for this wintery weather.

Bowled over by this.  Easily the best vintage I've ever tasted of this wine, now being made for us by Domaine Chapoton.  Deeply coloured....and, well.....deeply everything to be honest.  What really struck me were two things: Firstly, the amazing note of sweet fruit right in the middle of the palate - almost like Kirsch - you might find it on the nose as well; and secondly, how fantastic to find such a rich and full bodied wine that remains so unmistakably French, and has such a sense of place.  Stupendously good value.
(Philp Moulin - Berrys' Fine Wine Team - 19-Nov-2009)

2007 has proved to be the vintage of a century in the S.Rhône (20th and 21st by some accounts) so it should be no surprise that this specially selected cuvée is very special indeed. The wine is made from 60 % Grenache, 20 % Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre, 5% Cinsault, each vinified separately, each adding to the magical ensemble. Mediterranean warmth, with hedgerow, pepper, spice, are all evidenced on the nose. The palate is rich, velvet-textured, with sweet fruit and beautifully integrated tannins. We tasted through a large number of samples of 2007, knowing that we mustn't miss out on its quality-this wine stood out form the pack. We have not missed out, nor should you!

Serge Remusan purchased a delightful Louis XV farmhouse ( if a farmhouse rather than a piece of furniture may be described thus) in Rochegude 1980 over twenty years ago, added a somewhat piece-meal winery and considerable savoir faire and is now seen as one of the finest winemakers in the region, exploiting the limestone terroir of the hillside of the Massif D'Uchaux to make expressive and elegant red and white wines.
