2006 Bonnézeaux, La Montagne, Domaine du Petit Val

La Montagne represents Denis Goizil's finest Bonnezeaux, from a 50 year old single-vineyard on rocky/schistous soils, the fine botrytised fruit was hand-harvested by successive 'tries' before being fermented in stainless-steel cuves. The result: moreishly rich, focused custard-cream, honeyed, floral aromas are matched on the palate by a supremely elegant, delicate if decadently rich wine, to be drunk now till 2020, particularly with rich terrines, foie gras, and blue cheese.
