2006 Picolit DOC, Colli Orientali del Friuli, Meroi (wooden box)

Italy's answer to Sauternes, Paolo Meroi's Picolit, an indigenous variety to Friuli, lifts smartly with sweetly-scented lemon, lime and botrytic mandarin aromas; on the palate there's a re-assuringly whiff of freshly-made bread, of butter and gorgeously sweet citrus fruit. Great now with any tart or fruit based pudding. Brilliant. Drinking now and till 2015 at least.
