2005 Vigneti di Cadodo, Bava, Monferrato, Piedmont
|
|
Near their Cocconato base north of Asti the Bava brothers have identified a
fine limestone rich vineyard, Cadodo, in which they planted a mix of the
indigenous and noble Nebbiolo, the supple Barbera and the more international
Merlot. All are labelled under the new Monferrato DOC as a fresh style of wine.
Displaying a bright, red and black currant fruity perfume, along with a
distinctly Piedmontese whiff of meat and herbs, the palate delivers a lush,
supple summer-pudding compote of forest and vine berries, with just a hint of
(dark) chocolate and earthy spice. A real all-rounder, especially with rice,
(guinea) fowl and mild cheese dishes. (David Berry Green, BBR Buyer)
